Welcome to Photomarathon.Org So you have a digital camera. Now what? Some people want more from their cameras than just vacation snapshots. One outlet for their creativity is the style of photo competition called a photomarathon. A Photomarathon is a photograph competition with a twist. Photomarathons generally involve the competitors meeting at the pre-set start location. At the start of the competition, the first of the marathon's themes are announced by the marathon director. Competitors then work to take pictures that fit the themes. Competitors then return to the competition location where they turn in their submissions for the first theme and receive the second set of themes. It is not your physical condition that decides whether you win this type of competition, it is your sense of improvisation, fun and creativity that is stressed throughout the Photomarathon. Photomarathons vary in length, locations, and the number and types of themes. But they are all fun and give you a great chance to use your creativity and meet others interested in photography. Photomarathons have proved popular across Europe, with regular events in Denmark, Germany and Russia as well as the Global Photomarthon. Anyone and everyone can participate in the Photomarathon. The only thing you need is a digital with a memory stick to remove for uploading the pictures prior to judging. As the Photomarathon events may include photos to be taken at night, all entrants are advised to have a flash for their cameras, as well as a tripod if possible. camera, photography, photograph, photo competition
